The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Staff Designer - EV Battery Development.
Job Summary
This position will be responsible for supporting mechanical design and development engineering through CAD development, Windchill support, and managing ECRs through release. This staff level designer will demonstrate strong overall understanding of automotive and battery systems and components as well as processes.
Job Responsibilities
This is what you'll do:
  • Design, integrate, and deliver EV component/system designs (Battery, Motor, Charger) from concept to production
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop and deliver EV component/system designs to production
  • Create CAD models, large virtual assemblies and detailed drawings for EV motorcycle components/systems while utilizing advanced surfacing techniques within Creo
  • Create engineering change notices utilizing Product Life Cycle Management (PLM)
  • Demonstrate in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in delivering optimal designs while adhering to project targets, performance objectives, high quality, and cost minimization
  • Create written/graphical documentation that supports engineering guidelines, engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and tolerance studies
  • Mentor other designers, mechanics, and outside suppliers assigned to development projects
Education Specifications
An Associate s Degree on Mechanical Design or related technical field is preferred.
Experience Requirements
We're looking for someone with a minimum of 8 years of related experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:
  • Expertise in CAD tools with a familiarity in automotive and/or battery components and materials.
  • Success in solving challenging technical problems in a team environment.
  • Motorcycle or automotive/vehicle experience is preferred.
  • Experience in EV battery systems, as well as familiarity with common EV subsystems that include battery module design and assembly techniques.
  • Experience designing and developing systems/components.
