The Design Engineer is responsible for completing duties if the engineering department with speed and efficiency, while upholding the highest of standards. The Design Engineer will communicate directly with the senior engineer, project engineer, management team, and manufacturing team to assure that all products are designed and built to meet standards of both the customer and management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use Solidworks 3D CAD software to create accurate models of products
  • Develop customer drawings that can be easily followed by individuals not in the industry
  • Develop accurate customer quotes listing all equipment needed to complete builds while maintaining budget constraints
  • Develop accurate scopes of work to deliver to customers
  • Design products to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws
  • Maintain accurate records of all designs and designs changes
  • Communicate directly with sales coordinator to ensure all necessary information is procured
  • Communicate with costumes to ensure all customer needs are met
  • Research and implement new products to be used in customer builds
  • Work directly with engineering team and management to ensure all customer concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Work with purchasing and inventory manager to ensure all necessary equipment is ordered and received for all customer builds
  • Communicate with production manager and production team to resolve any design issues
  • Track and record all time spent on customer projects to ensure accurate data is collected for each customer design
  • Attend weekly company meetings to ensure all company standards are being followed
  • Recommend and assist in implementation of continuous improvement ideas

  • Associates Degree in Engineering, engineering technologies or equivalent
  • Experience with Solidworks 3D CAD software
  • Understanding of product development processes
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • High level of both written and verbal communication skills
  • High competency level in MS Office applications
  • Works well in a team environment
